Using an AI Meeting Assistant with Google Meet

How to use live transcription and meeting context with Google Meet while keeping participants informed.

4 min read

A repeatable consent-first setup makes both quick external calls and recurring Meet sessions more predictable.

Set up capture before joining

Decide whether you need microphone audio, meeting audio, or both. Browser sharing controls may require you to explicitly enable tab or system audio.

A short test before the call prevents missing context and reduces mid-meeting distraction.

Use a visible consent habit

Say at the beginning that an assistant is transcribing or helping with notes, and give people a chance to object. A plain verbal notice builds more trust than a hidden line in an invitation.

Keep recording separate from transcription so participants understand the choice being made.

Confirm the recap

Use the output to draft notes, then verify owners, dates, and commitments. An assistant cannot know whether an unclear comment was an actual decision.

Send a short recap promptly so people can correct it.
